This was a first for me. My dear friend gifted me leaf tallow from her steer that they raised. Because I didn’t have time to render it when she gave it to me, it has been in my deep freezer for about 5 months. However, this week I prioritized getting it processed and made into what I wanted it for: plain tallow for cooking, comfrey-lavender moisturizer and lavender-olive oil whipped tallow body butter. You can find the recipe I followed, at this link: https://jesspryles.com/whipped-beef-tallow-body-butter/
I initially did a dry rendering and then did a water/salt rendering for a final cleaning. Honestly, it was the cleanest tallow I’ve ever seen after the first dry rendering. Everything came out beautifully and my skin is already thanking me for the luxurious moisturizers.
